Product Manager
Behavioral screen first, then three interviews (45min each), plus a pretty easy take home case assignment. The interviews were pretty basic technically, and I’d say it’s not that hard to pass. Just note you might get a pretentious interviewer, and if so keep your head down and be prepared.
- Can you explain how relational databases work?
Product Manager
I applied through a referral. The whole process took about 2 to 3 weeks. I had two rounds of interviews. The first round was with a staff PM, and I prepared using cracking the case interview, favorite product and product improvement questions, general interest in the company industry, etc., and explaining technical concepts also came up. The second round interview was going through a take-home assignment PRD and a behavioral interview with a director.
- What is a product you like the most, and how would you make it better?
Product Manager
I got all the way to the final round. Lots of back channeling, inconsistent training and different lines of questioning from senior-level people on the panel. They say they want high performers and it’s super competitive, but it’s pretty clear they mainly want people from the same background or lineage as them (Seattle large-cap tech). They’re not really open to different ways of thinking and use “lack of applicable experience” as generic feedback, even though they could have figured that out at the recruiter screen. The take home was basically free work and apparently was poorly written with lots of technical issues.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with an engineering team?
