Java Developer
A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn from overseas and then passed my CV to a local recruiter. I had an in-person meeting with HR. I initially applied for a Java Developer role requiring Kafka knowledge, but mentioned my limited experience with it, so they considered me for a different Java Development position. After salary and position negotiations, I had an English language test a few days later, which I passed. I didn't hear back after passing the English test until I contacted the recruiter. She said other candidates had applied and the clients were finalizing their decisions, and they'd contact me if there were updates. It was pretty disappointing, feels like a waste of time when an interview process stops midway.
- Could you tell me about the projects you've worked on previously?
- What is your proficiency in English?
- What are your expectations regarding this position?
Senior Java Developer
So I got contacted by HR first, then there was an English assessment and a technical interview. After that, HR reached out again with an offer and we negotiated the terms. Once onboarded with DataArt, there's another interview process for the Project, which really depends on the client, so it could be anything from a quick chat to a full-on FAANG-style interview.
- Were there questions about Java core?
- Were there questions about JPA?
- Were there questions about SQL?

So first I had this phone interview, kinda weird, with an English teacher. She just wanted to see how good my English was. After that, they thought I was good enough language-wise and invited me to a real tech interview. That lasted about an hour and they asked me a bunch of questions, maybe 25-30? Pretty much right after that, in one day, I got another call asking me to come in for the next interview, and then they gave me the job offer.
- Can you list the interfaces in the Java Collection framework and explain their differences?
- Describe the algorithm for adding a new object to a HashMap.
