I interviewed for a frontend associate software engineer role. The first interview was pretty basic, covering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. They also had me solve a LeetCode-style problem. Finally, they gave me some React code and asked me to implement a search field with a debouncing effect.

The interview process felt disorganized and inconsistent. Initially, I was told they weren’t actively considering candidates with my level of experience, but we proceeded with the interview anyway. Despite answering all questions correctly and receiving encouraging feedback from the interviewer, I received an automated rejection email a week later with no explanation. There were several red flags during the interview itself. It wasn’t recorded, so I’m unsure if any of my responses were reviewed. The interviewer’s laptop died midway, and for the coding portion, I was asked to write code in Notepad while the interviewer read the questions out loud. This setup felt improvised and unprofessional for a technical role. After the interview, I reached out to ask for feedback or any clarification on the decision, but I was completely ghosted. Overall, the process lacked transparency, professionalism, and basic candidate courtesy. For a company that emphasizes data-driven thinking, the interview experience felt anything but structured or thoughtful.

I applied for the Software Engineer role online via DSD's website and heard back in about an hour. I was given a take-home assignment to complete within 5 business days. The interview process at DSD is straightforward: first, you complete a technical assignment, and if you pass, you move on to interviews. These interviews cover technical, behavioral, and logical aspects. The interviews felt more like casual chats than intimidating sessions. The first two interviews focused on behavioral and scenario-based questions, while the third was technical. In the final interview, I met with the CEO, Mr. Raja Tanveer Iqbal, who discussed the job details, responsibilities, and my career aspirations and passions. He also shared his entrepreneurial experiences, which was very insightful. A few days later, I received an offer and have been working at Data Science Dojo for a couple of months now. My experience has been very positive, and I'd recommend the company due to the talented and innovative people I've met here.
