First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dartmouth.
PhD Student
It was just an in person interview and it wasn't hard. It was a normal one on one interview. We also had the online form and a commonapp style thing.
- Could you explain your interest in Dartmouth?
- What motivates you?
PhD Student
It really depends on the professor, the process can be pretty all over the place. My feeling is that most professors have already decided who they want before they even talk to them, and there's often a good amount of favoritism going on.
- Can you discuss your research?
PhD Student
The first day was packed with about 8 interviews, each with a different principal investigator, lasting around 30 minutes each. After that, there's a dinner get-together. The second day involves touring various labs and getting information about the program's requirements.
- Can you tell me about your research experience and if you have led an independent research project?
