Behavioral Presentation

The interview process kicked off with a screening call, which was scheduled for 30 minutes but ended up being an hour long. It felt more like a real interview than just a basic screening. After this first chat, I was asked to submit three references, watch some videos, and write a reflection with my own questions before the next stage. The second interview involved two interviewers and was strictly behavioral. The questions were super specific and tough, and they really wanted exact answers, often interrupting to ask for different examples or examples in a different context. They also wanted very precise details like dates and names of people involved. They had me expand on my written reflections and give feedback on the videos. When I re-asked a question about LGBTQ+ employee support that I'd included in my written reflection, I got a really vague and unconvincing answer, which made me question if this faith-based organization would be a safe space or if it would lead to overworking of staff.

Behavioral Other

The interview process was really weird and uncomfortable. They asked me basic stuff I'd already put on my application, like where I worked before and who my old bosses were. They also cut me off a lot when I was talking and rushed me. I get that the job is high-pressure, but it felt like an interrogation, which isn't very professional. When I talked about organizing for LGBTQ students, their reaction made me feel like they didn't actually care about queer issues, which is a major red flag for an organization that says it values diversity. This job has been posted three times in my area, and they've already wasted the time of other organizers I know. It seems like they're looking for a mythical perfect candidate and just wasting everyone's time and energy, especially since part of the interview involves doing unpaid work.

This was a really weird interview. After I picked a date and time for the initial interview via email, I didn't get any confirmation from Dart, so I had to text them the day before to make sure it was still on. This was the first sign, honestly. On the interview day, the interviewer was late to our Zoom call and apologized. They mentioned the call would be recorded, which was fine, but then said they had specific questions they needed to get through quickly. This felt a bit off. The interviewer was also really cold the whole time, not warm or welcoming at all. It felt like they weren't really interested in interviewing me, especially since I had to chase them for confirmation. It was like they'd already made up their mind and were just going through the motions. The rest of the interview was mostly them checking information I already put on my application, like they were trying to catch me in a lie. They even asked about my references during the interview, which is something they can check on their own time.

The process was very fair. I enjoyed learning about the community organizing work that DART Center affiliates do. Overall, this seems to be a very positive organization. The interview process has been outstanding so far.
