First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Dapper Labs.
Software Engineer
I went through about two weeks of interviews that included a take-home assignment. After that, we had discussions about the assignment, a system design interview, and a values interview. There were 4 rounds in total.
- Can you build an authentication/authorization server?
Senior Software Engineer
First there was an HR call, then a take home assignment. After that, I had a technical talk with 2 engineers and a system design interview. Then a values interview and an interview with the hiring manager. Finally, a logistics call. I got a verbal offer, and they said a written offer would come soon. After a week, a new recruiter called with the verbal offer again and told me to wait. A week later, I emailed them about the offer, but got no reply. After more emails, they told me they couldn't offer the position, with no explanation. I emailed everyone I interviewed with to understand why, as the feedback was great and they were still hiring. The response was weird: they thought I'd be a good fit for a team but then decided not to hire anyone for that team. I didn't follow up after that.
- Take-home assignment is very important for them.
- System design is not hard at all.
Software Engineer
It took about 3 weeks to complete the interview process, with 4 interviews in total. I had the chance to speak with employees and managers from different teams, and we had some really good discussions where I found out everything I needed to know about the job. The assignment they gave me was fair, and they were open to making adjustments in several areas.
- Tell me about a mistake you made at work and how you dealt with it.
