Legal Support Specialist
I went through the interview process for the Legal Support Specialist position. It was a good experience, lasting about a month from the first call to the last chat. The initial conversation was about my work in employment law support, writing up policies, and dealing with employee issues. Later on, the interviews got deeper and more like a conversation, with questions about different situations. I liked that they really wanted to know how I manage being legally accurate while also being understanding and careful. The process was thorough but didn't waste my time, and they communicated pretty well throughout. It seemed like they were looking for someone who knew the law but could also handle the people side of things thoughtfully.
- How would you approach resolving a conflict situation?
Legal Support
This interview process had 3 rounds, but they honestly didn't even feel like interviews. I usually get super nervous for interviews, but within a couple of minutes in each one, my nerves just vanished. The first interview with Carlos and Reagan started super casual, just chatting about historical topics I found interesting. As a recent history grad, this was the perfect way to kick things off and made it feel more like a relaxed conversation than an interrogation. The third interview was in-person in Waco and was more about whether I aligned with DS's core values. It was really easy and I felt comfortable the entire time.
- Could you tell us about someone in your life you find remarkable and explain what makes someone remarkable to you?
Associate Attorney
So the interview process started with a phone screen from one of the in-house recruiters or HR. It was pretty brief and mostly about going over my resume. Then, the next step was a Zoom interview with the CLO that went for about an hour. That one felt pretty natural, not like a standard script, and we talked more about my legal background. I also got to ask a lot of questions about how the firm operates. The third round was also on Zoom, but I think it could have been done in person too. They call them 'attorney shadows,' but really, you just chat with two lawyers for about 30 minutes each. After that, I had two separate meetings with some of the support staff. This part really focused on the company culture, their values, and how well I'd fit in.
- Describe a situation where you had to manage a team member whose performance was below expectations.
Front Desk Receptionist
After you apply, they send you a personality test to do within 3 days. Then, they email you to set up a quick 10-15 minute Zoom screening interview. If that goes well, they'll set up another Zoom interview called a "Skillset Alignment Interview." This one was supposed to be with 3 people and take about an hour, but it ended up being just one-on-one and took about 40 minutes. A few days later, they asked for 3 professional references. After that, I got an email to schedule two in-person interviews: the "Core Values" interview and the "Social Contract + Purpose" interview. These took about 2 hours total. I was feeling really good about the job until about two weeks later, when I got an automated email saying they picked someone else.
- Can you tell me how you balance your work and home life? Do you also know how to 'play hard' in addition to working hard?
