The first interview was held online via the Teams app. It felt formal and impersonal, making it hard to connect with the interviewers. There were two people on the panel, both instructional designers who used to be teachers.

The hiring process starts with submitting a DBU application. The IT department needs students to send in the application, personality test results, class schedule, unofficial transcript, and resume to the Support office. I had 4 interviews over 4 weeks after submitting my application. The first interview was with 2 Support staff members who would be my managers. It was good to meet them and learn about the job. The second interview was with the associate vice president. He was relaxed and encouraging, asking about my background and what I like about school. He made the interview feel stress-free. The third interview was with the vice president, which was the most challenging. He's kind but hard to read. I was pretty relaxed until he asked hypothetical questions about my personality test, including one that seemed to have a right answer. The interview went well, and I was hired at the end. I started the next week after completing some payroll paperwork.

It was super intimidating, and I was never really sure about my role, what I was supposed to be doing, or what the expectations were. They left things really open-ended so they could pile on more tasks to an already huge workload.
