First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Daktronics.
Analyst
It was pretty straightforward, they asked general questions, and two people interviewed me, asking about my skills and knowledge. They threw in some 'tell me about a time' behavioral questions too, and also asked about technical skills (though you didn't really have to show them).
- Are you familiar with SQL?
- Do you have experience with Power BI?
Sales Intern
They spent a lot of time figuring out what would be the best fit for me and for Daktronics, and I really appreciated this care! I interviewed with multiple areas and left feeling like I knew the company before I even started working for them.
- What are your salary expectations?
Sales
So I had like three phone interviews all one week from each other. I was pretty bummed out cause the interview process was about a month long and I thought that three phone interviews was enough to get the job, then I heard nothing back at all. I emailed and called the person who interviewed me and I got no response... So I had to email the hiring services and they emailed me back saying that I didn't get the job. I felt it was a very unprofessional way to go about it.
- What's a strength you possess?
Student Software Engineer
So after I applied online, a recruiter emailed me to set up a phone pre-screening. It had typical questions about my interest in Daktronics, my background, and future plans. About a week later, I got a phone call to schedule an in-person interview at their office. It was a bunch of one-on-one chats with the software development team leads. They mostly asked about my resume and the programming languages and tech I knew, like if I had used C++, C# or JavaScript. After those chats, I did an hour-long programming test with questions that got harder, covering major SDSU CS topics. A few days after that, they called and offered me the job.
- Can you trace the output of these function calls?
- The most difficult question was about tracing function calls to find the console output. If you've taken Programming Languages at SDSU, this is a familiar type of question.
