First, we had a phone call where they explained the opportunity. After that, they scheduled an on-site interview. The interview itself was pretty standard and under an hour long. They asked questions about my past experience and personal goals. They also talked about career progression within the company.

Had a quick phone chat with the recruiter to go over salary expectations. Then I had a 1-hour Zoom call with the Social Manager, followed by a 1-hour in-person meeting at the Austin office. They asked questions about my SEM experience. Later that week, after the in-person interview, they extended an offer. The team wasn't flexible on salary, and they have limited PTO days.

I was contacted by recruiting within a week of applying. The initial screening call, which I scheduled, was supposed to be with one person but two showed up and it turned out to be a first-round interview. I was asked questions and only given three minutes to ask my own, and was cut off after just one. The invite said business casual for a virtual meeting, which felt micromanaging. I had to schedule the final interview a week out, and it was also only 30 minutes. The conversation was good, but again, I only had time for a few questions. I got an offer the next day at the lower end of the salary range. I countered, and they said that offer was for a lower role. After a day, I checked for updates and was told TA was waiting for an answer. The head of TA called asking if I accepted, and I asked for clarification on the title and offer. They said I needed a certification for the role I interviewed for (which was never mentioned before) and that neither position was available, but they could offer an even lower pay rate and title. It felt like a bait and switch, very confusing and unprofessional.

Behavioral Other

This was one of the strangest interviews I've ever had. I got to the office early and observed employees arriving. It was noticeable that about 90% of them were men, which seemed odd considering the company markets itself as "woman owned and run." After arriving, I had to complete a very lengthy application. The interview itself involved two people. One was quite friendly and approachable, but the other, who seemed to be leading the interview, was very difficult to connect with. This person read all questions from a prepared list and gave no indication of acknowledging or responding to my answers. They also repeatedly misidentified the other interviewer by name, creating an awkward atmosphere. Although they said I'd be informed of their decision either way, I never heard back, which in hindsight, was perfectly fine. I was just relieved to leave the situation.
