First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at D2L.
Sales
The HR virtual interview went okay, but the in-person interview with the manager felt robotic and impersonal. It was brief and a waste of time, making me feel like just a number.
- Why are you interested in this role and D2L?
Sales
I had a recruiter call first, with basic but well-structured questions. I did most of the talking, going over my CV. Then I had a second interview, which was an assessment. Some questions were relevant, but others, especially the math equations, seemed more suited for engineers. I did well enough to get a third interview, which I thought would be the last. I spoke with the team leader for over an hour about sales strategy and my experience. He then invited me to a fourth 'scenario' interview. This was a panel interview where I discussed a potential contract for a university with several D2L employees. They were polite and gave good feedback. Afterward, they spent about half an hour briefing me on the role and company operations, suggesting a positive outcome. The team lead left for a meeting, promising to be in touch. A week later, I had to call myself for an update. I received a brief email saying I didn't get the position. I'm disappointed by the lack of timely feedback and communication, which makes me question how they value their staff.
- What were the specific details surrounding the software outage that occurred in 2013?
Sales Representative
It started with a general chat with the hiring manager, who is the VP EMEA. Then, there was a panel presentation where I presented to the peer group, which included sales management and solutions engineering. After that, I had an interview with the VP International, followed by an interview with the Chief Revenue Officer. Finally, there was a reference check, which was a 40-minute call.
