I had a great initial interview with the Head of IT & Process, who then sent me to HR for the rest of the process. Everything seemed to be going well. But then? Complete radio silence for a whole month. I followed up several times with no response. Then, after a month, I got a simple LinkedIn message saying my application was rejected due to Dutch language skills. What? This was obvious from the start, yet they waited four weeks without updating me to give this as an excuse. This experience was super frustrating, not just because of the total lack of professionalism and communication, but also for the unnecessary stress of the endless wait for an absurd justification in the end. Truly disrespectful to candidates.

The application was actually more of a trial period through an indefinite interim contract. Depending on whether the managers see potential in this particular person, they will or will not be hired by D'ieteren itself with a fixed-term contract to then possibly transition to an indefinite contract after a year.

It starts with two reasoning tests: abstract reasoning and numerical. You have to go to the head office for this and will be placed in a separate room where a computer is available. You will have enough time, but you still have to work at a decent pace. A personality test is conducted via an HR interview.

The process starts with a quick phone screen. Then, there's an HR interview that focuses on competencies. You also have to fill out a personality questionnaire. If that goes well, you'll have a chat with the hiring manager. The whole thing can be wrapped up in about 3 weeks.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • A very competency-focused interview.
  • A personality questionnaire.
  • An interview with the hiring manager.
