Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cypress Semiconductor.
Intern
Hiring manager reached out by email first. I had a phone call, and then they set up a day for me to come in for three interviews. They decided to offer me the position, and I accepted.
- Given I have no prior experience, could you ask me mostly behavioral questions?
Intern
They started by giving an overview of the company, their business, and their various departments. Following that, they asked some questions and commenced the interview itself. The whole thing lasted about 30 minutes, and everyone was really friendly.
- What issues arise if a transistor's reaction time is either too quick or too sluggish?
Intern
I interviewed for an internship at Cypress Semiconductor in Lynnwood, WA, focusing on testing PSoC chips for their CapSense technology. The interview started with questions about how I thought their CapSense tech worked and how I'd implement my own version. They also asked how I would measure a human finger's capacitance and what I thought that value was. I should have brushed up on Analog to Digital converters, as that was also pretty key.
- Can you explain how analog to digital conversion works and discuss its various types?
- Please draw and explain a low pass filter.
- Describe how you would develop your own CapSense technology.
