First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cypress College.
Adjunct
The interview process was pretty straightforward. After you apply online, there's a short, about 15-minute class presentation. Then, some questions about your experience with Canvas LMS, teaching methods, and techniques.
- Do you have prior classroom experience?
- Are your official transcripts certified?
Admissions Representative
I had an interview with three people, who seemed to be the dean of admissions. The questions weren't too hard. We were in a conference room, and they were taking notes on my responses. They mentioned a points system, but by the end of the day, it seemed like they didn't even follow it.
- What is your motivation for wanting to work at Cypress College?
Math Tutor
They asked me a few simple questions about my background first. Then, they wanted me to tutor them through some problems from the two highest math levels I said I could teach. It was a pretty chill interview. They really just wanted to make sure my math skills were solid and that I wouldn't be difficult to work with as a tutor.
- What's the highest level of math you've completed, and what grade did you get in it?
- What grade did you get in the highest math course you've taken?
Program Coordinator
The interview process involved a writing prompt, a committee interview, and a short presentation, all conducted virtually over Zoom. It was a good experience overall, and I was given adequate notice and instructions to get ready for each part. The topics and questions aligned well with the job description, so there weren't any surprises.
- What strategies do you use to provide high-quality services to a diverse student population?
