I had a video call with HR first, then a video call with the hiring manager. The next day I went on-site to meet the hiring manager and the Engineering Manager. Later that afternoon, I had a video interview with the Engineering VP. The HM asked what day I could start and my arrival time, which sounded positive. I emailed the HR rep a few days later for an update but never got a response. I haven't heard anything since then. GHOSTED.

The interview process was really smooth. The recruiter was super responsive to my questions, and I knew what they were looking for. It seemed like a cool place to work, but I didn't end up getting an offer.

The interview started with an initial screening by the hiring manager. Then the final stage was three back-to-back sessions, each 45 minutes long, with the hiring manager and two team members. The first final round session focused on technical questions about modern control theory, my background, and PhD research. The second session was entirely about C++ coding, not Leetcode style, but more to assess my understanding of C++ coding. The third session was a disaster, the interviewer was aggressive and impolite, asking basic questions which I answered, but his biased attitude led to my rejection.

I interviewed for a Senior C++ Robotics Engineer job. I prepped a lot and have experience in autonomy, path planning, and ROS, but they only asked control theory questions. The interview ended fast because I didn't answer right away. The question was simple trig. I thought it was broader, but they didn't care about my thinking or experience. They didn't say bye, give feedback, or mention my background. It was rude. They hire for planning and behavior, not just controls, so it was weird it was all controls. Interviews should check all skills, thinking, and relevance, not just one math question. Hope Cyngn changes how they test people, especially experienced ones.
