First, I spoke with the head of HR on the phone. Then, later that week, they called me back to set up an in-person interview with the person who would be my direct supervisor.

The interview went well, the interviewer was patient and friendly. They also showed me the software and explained my daily tasks.

Applied through a recruiter, had a quick first Skype call (about 40 mins) since they needed someone ASAP. They gave a brief job intro and asked some general questions. Then, I had to do a take-home assignment: write a C++ stereo matching solver for a dense disparity map from a stereo image pair (with a large baseline). It needed to be multi-core optimized, and I had to implement and test 3 different evaluation approaches. No existing libraries were allowed for the solver. They gave 2 weeks, extendable to 4. I finished it in 10 days since I'd done something similar for my master's. They then set up a second Skype meeting to discuss it. The interviewer was impressed with my solution and said there were no issues. They said they'd be in touch within 2 weeks about next steps, but then ghosted me. I've never had to do such a big test assignment before and suspect they just use applicants for fake positions. I regret the time spent on the test with no feedback.
