First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CyberAgent.
Intern
It was a summer internship program for students of all grade levels. First, there was an online group discussion. Then, a unique 'tryout' where we had 40 minutes to create a business plan and then chat about it with an interviewer. Lastly, I met the head of HR in person for about 30 minutes.
- The interviewer asked in depth about my personal values.
Software Engineer
For me as a new-grad engineer candidate, the process had a few interview rounds. It began with a technical interview with two engineers where they talked about my projects and how I solve problems. After that, I had HR/manager interviews that were about my teamwork experience, what drives me, and my career aspirations. The last round was more about my personality and if I'd fit in with the company culture. There wasn't any online coding test; they mostly just had long conversations with me about my background and potential for growth.
- Could you share your experiences with development during college?
- Tell me about your projects and your problem-solving approach.
- Describe your experience working in teams.
Graduate Student
Applied for a new grad position on their business track. The whole experience was very quick and painless. They got back to me fast with the results. The interview style was pretty casual and lasted about 20 minutes total.
- What's important to you in team communication?
Coordinator
They first asked for my resume in English and then in Japanese, and also a CV in Japanese. After setting the interview date, I was sent a link to an aptitude test (verbal and math) and a personality test, both 100% in Japanese. I had to finish the test before the interview day, which was tough because I was still employed elsewhere. The math part was harder than SAT/GRE, and strangely, the job didn't require statistics. The whole test took over an hour. The interview itself was very old-school Japanese. Three interviewers sat across from me, and we went around the table asking questions. I think they didn't like that I made eye contact with everyone, not just the person asking. It was also weird that none of them knew much about the job. Talking about my past achievements or the job's challenges got no reaction. I knew I wouldn't get the job because it felt like they were expecting specific 'talking points' I didn't know.
- What motivates you to join Cygames?
- Could you explain your interest in this specific role over a position that typically attracts more international candidates?
- What are your salary expectations?
