First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Custom Computer Specialists.
Technician
First round interview with one individual, followed by a second interview with another both containing technical questions. First round the individual seemed new and the questions were less technical then the second round.
- Can you describe the OSI model?
Human Resources Coordinator
I had a phone screening with a really nice recruiter who then emailed me detailed instructions about the rest of the interview steps, including filling out an online application to bring with me. I met with two people: the recruiter and another woman who gave me a pre-employment test. They were both nice, especially the recruiter. The only thing I didn't like was the Wonderlich test. You have 10 minutes to answer about 50 questions. It's already stressful being interviewed, and then getting hit with an SAT-like test with a 10-minute time limit is not fun. Some people get test anxiety and aren't good at timed tests, and I'm not sure if it really predicts job fit or success, just like some people don't interview well but are great workers, or vice versa. Even though I didn't get the job, I was impressed with how organized and efficient their interview process was. They sent a polite rejection email, which is more than I can say for other companies.
- What are some standard interview questions you've been asked?
Network Engineer
The interview process started with a quick 12-minute online assessment featuring about 50 questions designed to test logic and attention to detail. Following that, I had a call with a recruiter who asked about my past experiences in a friendly and engaging conversation. Next, I interviewed with a manager from the network engineering department. This interview was more technical than the recruiter call. The manager intended for me to speak with a third person, but they had already left for the day. He mentioned he would inform the recruiter to reschedule this final interview. Overall, I felt the process went well and enjoyed interacting with everyone. I'm eager to join them, but I haven't received any updates yet, possibly due to the recent holiday weekend. I'll update if I hear back.
- Would you consider yourself an expert in this field?
Account Support Representative
First I got a call from the Recruiting Manager to set up an interview. Before meeting the Sales Manager, I had to do an assessment. Then I met with the Sales Manager who asked me questions about my experience and any resume gaps. After that, I had a second interview with the Sales Director to go over the role's requirements. Later that same day, I interviewed with someone who is also an Account Support Representative, and she told me about her daily tasks and the team's culture.
