First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cushing Terrell.
Project Coordinator
There was an initial phone call to set up a subsequent phone interview. The HR person was friendly at first, but during the phone interview, they seemed to be reading questions robotically from a script. They asked repetitive questions about the role and the interview lasted a long time, about 1.5 hours, with no follow-up.

Business Development Specialist
The interview process was relaxed and personal, but also slow. My first interview was a phone screen by an HR Professional who answered many of my questions and asked me some basic interview questions to gauge my credibility. After that screening, I was told I would be contacted within a week. Within a few days, I was contacted about an in-person interview where the office manager, also a vertical market leader and hiring manager, took me out to lunch to talk more about the job. This was great and gave us a true opportunity to connect. A few weeks later, I had a third interview with the Manager of BD, HR, and a Principal. This interview focused more on the specifics of my skill set and what I could bring to the table. My understanding is that if the manager of BD had been in town, I would have only had two interviews, but because he was unavailable, I had three, which was okay. After the interview, I was told I would hear back in a week or so. This 'week' however, stretched into a few months, and I had given up and started looking again. About two months after the third interview, I received a callback on the offer and an apology for the delay. I didn't consider the delay too heavily, however, because I was told from the get-go that their interview process can be arduous and lengthy. Overall, I am very happy to be with Cushing Terrell and LOVE Working here. The environment and culture are great, and I enjoy the autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit of the company!
- The interview was casual and covered basic questions.
- The role of a BD is to build and maintain relationships, so the interviewers were looking for this skill.
Marketing Communications Specialist
I started with a phone screening with a recruiter that was pretty thorough, covering everything and letting me talk about myself and my background. It felt relaxed but comprehensive. Then, I had an in-person interview at their office, which was a great experience. The office looked good, and I met two people, one joining remotely. They had good tech that made the hybrid interview smooth. It was a casual chat, and they wanted to see if I'd fit in with the team and if I had the skills for the job.
- Can you identify three areas where you feel you could improve?
- What qualities do you value in a workplace environment?
Intern
It was a video call, really quick and to the point. They asked me scenario-based questions and also about my previous work experience, using the STAR method. They also asked me about the company and why I wanted to join.
- Can you share an experience of working on a project?
- Describe a time you faced a challenge in a previous role.
- What motivated you to apply to our company?
