The interview process had two rounds. The first one was with the University Relations Program Manager and the second was with the Senior Project Manager of the site I would have reported to. The first interview was mostly about soft skills, and there were no technical questions, but qualifications were still important. The second interview was relaxed and mostly consisted of any outstanding questions about the position because the first interview went well.

So, this was for a remote Graphic Designer role. They initially told me I didn't get the job and I was their second pick, but then their first choice fell through and they offered me the position, which I accepted. When it was time to sort out the hiring details, they gave me a bogus reason about not wanting to hire me because I'd be the only one in my state and they didn't want to pay some fee. I found out this was a lie because I connected with someone on LinkedIn who works there and lives in my state. They kept giving me the runaround, and I wouldn't recommend them. Very unprofessional.

I had 5 interviews with the hiring manager, director, and other team members. The recruiter was super helpful and responsive until the end. But then I had to do a project with really bad instructions and wrong terms. They told me to ask questions, but it was given Friday afternoon and everyone was off for the weekend. I never got any feedback on the project or any questions about my approach. It's crazy I had to do a FREE project when I already have a portfolio, which is usually a must for this field. It should be illegal or they should pay for it. I was ghosted for over a week, then they finally replied saying they chose someone else without any reason. It was really rude and frustrating because they were hyping me up the whole time.

So, first I chatted with a recruiter on the phone about my background, why I wanted this job at CEI, and if I seemed like a good fit. After that, I had a Teams interview with some of the people on the team I might be working with. We talked more about what the team is like, what they expect, and the actual work involved. The whole thing took about one to two weeks and felt pretty organized.
