First, there will be a phone pre-screening, and then selected candidates will be invited for an in-office interview where they will do some testing to see how you would respond to clients in various scenarios.

I had an experience applying for a School Based Therapist role with Cummins Behavioral Health about ten years ago. I did an initial interview and then sent an email to HR that had a lot of typos and grammatical errors. I was surprised to get a second interview and then found out I was a finalist. I had one more interview, but the email caused them to be hesitant. So, I had to do another interview with a Senior Vice President where I did an oral interview and a written case study to show my documentation skills. The VP said I made a good impression and would be an asset. I completed a background check, set up my provider registration, and negotiated salary and a start date. I thought I was going to get the job, but then my potential supervisor called and said the CEO decided to go with someone else. This happened on my birthday, which was rough. I know I would have been great there because of my experience with substance abuse and DV classes, home-based therapy, and because I'm a veteran and bilingual. I've been at my current agency for 10 years doing home-based therapy and got my LSW and LCSW in 2017. I know I'm not the final decision-maker, and I understand the importance of professional documentation. I admit I made a mistake not proofreading that email. It felt unprofessional to go through all those steps and then have the offer rescinded after it was made. My advice is to proofread everything you send to them and don't assume you have the job until you've actually started working. I interviewed in 06/2009.

Submitted resume online, got a call for a quick, informal phone interview. Then scheduled for an in-person interview. My in-person interview led to an interview at an alternative school I wasn't qualified for. My resume was then sent to a different township, where I was scheduled with yet another interview with the company. After putting me through four interviews, the company simply stopped contacting me.

It was a pretty standard interview for a social work position. They asked about my experience in schools, my background in therapy, and my strengths. They also wanted to know which populations I'd prefer to work with and how I felt about working on my own. We talked about trainings, supervision, and my personal and professional goals in social work.
