First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Culture Amp.
Sales Development Representative
The interview process had 4 stages. First, I spoke with the hiring manager. Then, there was a call with the SDR manager. The third stage was a presentation, and the final stage was a call with the head of sales. It was a really well-structured process, and I got a great understanding of the company and its values.
- What makes you stand out from other applicants?
Sales Development Representative
The hiring manager was 15 minutes late to our zoom call without an apology and refused to turn on her video, citing puffy eyes. She asked if it was okay, and despite my discomfort, I felt pressured to agree. Her flat tone made the conversation feel robotic. She didn't introduce herself or the company, and after brief small talk about the weather, she abruptly stated we had lost time and should move on. She seemed confused about my CV and cover letter, as if she hadn't read them. She asked very generic questions, like 'Why sales?', not related to my background or the company. I had researched the company for three days and was enthusiastic about the product, but my enthusiasm waned when her answers to my questions were either 'I haven't been with the company for long so I don't know' or 'That's information that Culture Amp doesn't disclose,' even for questions about philanthropy. It felt like I knew more about the company than she did. The interview, intended for a German-speaking role, lasted only 10 minutes. Despite my excitement beforehand, the experience left me feeling 'meh.'
- What's your motivation for getting into sales?
Sales Development Representative
Applied online and got an email to schedule a call. Had a call with the hiring manager where we talked about my background and the role. Then I had to do a take-home assignment where I wrote 4 cold emails, which I submitted within 48 hours. I emailed the hiring manager to let them know I submitted, and they replied saying they'd review it. Then I didn't hear back for over a week. That was it.
