First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CSM LeadDog.
Intern
The interview process had 3 rounds, starting online and then moving to video chat. It was all wrapped up in under two weeks. They mainly asked standard questions about my background and abilities. Near the end, they asked some personality questions and also about what I know about what's happening in the industry. I met with the two people on the team I'd be working with, and they were both great and skilled.
- What's your approach when assigned a project outside your current expertise?
- What would you do if you were given a project that you had no experience in or know nothing about?
Graphic Designer
I applied online and heard back a few weeks later. I went in for two separate interview sessions where I met with four different people. Each time, I had to talk through my portfolio with them individually. Two of the interviewers seemed pretty new to this and didn't really know how to conduct an interview, even trying to get me to ask them questions because they weren't prepared. It was a bit pretentious and made me feel uncomfortable, especially since I'm a senior designer and felt I was being treated like an intern.
- What made you decide to join LeadDog?
Junior Designer
My interview with the creative team of Lead Dog Marketing Group was semi-spontaneous. I was originally booked for a phone screen but happened to be at Penn Station, so I asked if an in-person interview would be possible since their HQ is right there. The creative project manager made it happen super fast. I met with 7 people in two groups and showed my portfolio twice to different creative directors. The process was pretty simple: I showed my portfolio, talked about how I think about design, why I like the company, and what I'm looking for. Then they gave me a quick tour of the office and showed me some behind-the-scenes stuff. Everyone I met was really nice, enthusiastic, and did a great job selling the company.
- What are your expectations for this role?
- Do you prefer working on projects alone or with a team?
- What kind of sports projects are you interested in?
Account Coordinator
The atmosphere was really relaxed, more like a chat than a formal interview. The company seems to be going through some growing pains, and the office space was a bit messy. They tried to get me to join their internship or freelance program to help with their workload, but I heard those pay very little and don't always lead to full-time jobs. Everyone I met was super nice and easy to talk to. I met with three different managers.
