Behavioral Presentation

Technical Coding

The interview process started with a technical interview with two very knowledgeable leads, which was a very interesting and enjoyable experience. This was followed by a take-home task. While the specifics of the task are confidential, it involves working with legacy code on a Windows PC, which could be challenging for Mac users. The provided code quality was exceptionally poor, and the task's instructions were rather unclear. My understanding was that the goal was to optimize the code without altering its logic or fixing bugs, and it turned out this was indeed the expectation. This second stage of the interview was quite messed up and not a pleasant experience.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Technical questions about C++ were asked.
  • There were also questions about hardware.
  • Additionally, questions about linear algebra were posed for the engine development role.

Technical Coding Behavioral

The interview process felt a bit strange, but the people were great. It started with a technical interview, then a technical test, and another interview. Only after that did I get to talk to HR about salary and benefits, and there was still one more interview round to go. They offered a low salary for Frankfurt, even lower for full remote, which was my current pay. Friends working there earn much more, and their only explanation was 'We pay programmers more.' While maybe understandable due to fewer programmers, it's not a strong reason. After nearly two months, I declined the offer because even after some negotiation, the Frankfurt option increased only slightly and was still much lower than my current salary considering the cost of living.
