& Process

We started with a standard behavioral interview, followed by a take-home assignment that took up my entire weekend, including writing documentation. After submitting it, I received no response, even after multiple follow-ups. They eventually got back to me stating I was no longer being considered and that my project was 'too basic.' Honestly, I'm relieved I didn't proceed, especially given their low salary offer for such high expectations.

So, I had a recruiter call first, and then she asked me some questions about my background and what I'd done. After that, there was a take-home assessment. Then, I had a call with the Hiring Manager. Unfortunately, they put the position on hold after I completed the third round of interviews.

It was a thorough process with plenty of back and forth to ask questions and get a good sense of the company and team. Talked with manager and peers as well as with HR.

The last person I talked to was super rude and I think that's why I didn't get an offer. They were really focused on someone who could do a Kubernetes ingress controller instead of coding a backend piece for a distributed system. Honestly, saying I don't have technical depth in Dockerfiles and terraform is wild because I've been using them a ton for years, and they barely even asked me about them. The whole interview process felt like a manipulative, nepotistic mess, with everyone seeming to know each other from a previous failed startup before landing at Goldman Sachs. They never asked me any technical questions about Pandas, which is what they lied about in their feedback for not offering me the job. It's so typical for these companies to just lie to your face to seem righteous. This company, Crux, lives up to its name, it's a curse. Avoid them, seriously. Most of the people who interviewed me didn't even seem like they code, and the engineering team lacks diversity. They seem clueless about where they want to take the company or how to scale. It's funny they said I need to brush up on Pandas, when one of the interviewers didn't even know a Python framework I brought up from a previous chat. Where were the Pandas questions though? Keep lying Crux. Definitely not a good place to work. Zero diversity, and all the managers seem to have come from the same three companies, which is a huge red flag. The interview process was awkward and disjointed, and I'll be telling everyone I know to avoid Crux and their clique-y culture.
