Sales Development Representative
So, first, my resume got screened out with over 200 applicants, but I managed to connect with the recruiter and the SDR lead, which got me a phone screening. Then, they had me write out a sales cadence on how I'd reach out to a prospect. I got positive feedback on that and was told the next step was to chat with the Senior SDR Lead. The interview with him involved going over my accomplishments, KPIs, and tech stack, and I had to answer two STAR questions. I finished by asking if he had any reservations about me, and he said no, even suggesting I was qualified for their senior SDR team. We then set up a next step to meet the team, and I felt the interview went really well. I followed up on LinkedIn since I didn't get his email, making it personal while waiting for the recruiter to send his professional contact. Later, I got a generic email saying they needed a more experienced Enterprise/senior SDR, which totally came out of nowhere, especially since the Senior SDR Lead himself hinted I was a good fit for a senior role and that it was remote. Honestly, sales leaders should be more transparent during interviews. I checked his LinkedIn, and wasn't impressed that he only hit 91% of his pipeline quota, while I'm hitting 110% of mine. Talk to me when you're hitting 120%-130% and have your own territory.
- Could you share an instance where you experienced failure and subsequently rectified a situation?
- Describe a time you failed and how you fixed it.
Sales Development Representative
This job had a few steps. First, a 30-minute call with a recruiter. Then, a take-home assignment where I had to show I knew their product, prospects, and how I'd sell to them. After that, I talked to the SDR manager. The next step was a 'superday' with a bunch of people: other SDRs, sales enablement folks, AEs, and marketing people who work with the SDR team. Finally, they asked for my references.
- Can you share an instance where you were given feedback and made adjustments based on it?
Sales Development Representative
A recruiter reached out and I got passed to HR. We had a great talk and they wanted to bring me in for an onsite. My onsite interview was with HR and the head of business development. Then they had me back for another onsite to meet the team. We had a good conversation, and afterwards I spoke with HR to see if there were any concerns about moving forward. She said not really, but they were trying to hire an SDR manager first. I didn't think it was a big deal. I sent thank you emails and even called, but they totally ghosted me. For all the time I took out of my day, they could have at least had the respect to send an email saying they weren't moving forward. All that aside, everyone I met was super nice and friendly.
- Can you share three aspects of your current role that you really enjoy, and three tasks you would delegate?
