It was a multi-step process over several weeks with different interview stages. I completed three rounds and was really looking forward to hearing back, but unfortunately, I never did. Each interview was eye-opening, and I really liked the company and its vibe. The people I met were super into their jobs, making me want to join even more. It seemed like they were all about new ideas and helping employees grow, which is important to me. It felt like a fantastic chance for development, both personally and career-wise. Even though there was no follow-up, I'm still hoping to work with them someday.

I interviewed with Quan, who is a recruiter. The second interview was with the Hiring Manager. I really want to just underscore the thoughtfulness of my interactions with Quan. He was so engaged and was a great representative of Crunchbase's culture. I have interacted with many recruiters and Quan was hands down the best experience--by far. While I did not get to go further given timing and the position ended up being filled, Quan was still thoughtful enough to call me instead of just emailing me. Recruiters do not typically do that and I found this empathic act to be a testament to Quan's professionalism and kind spirit. What a gem!

First there was a phone screen with the recruiter. Then I had a phone interview with the Director. After that, I had another phone interview with a Customer Success Manager. The last stage was an onsite interview with six people from the team: Success, Product, and Marketing. Oh, and in between the Director's interview and the CSM's interview, I was apparently auto-rejected because the position was filled, even though the job ad was reposted the next day. I asked the recruiter about it, and he said he had no clue about the reopening but that I was on a list for consideration if it happened. About a week and a half later, they called to see if I wanted to continue. Within two days, I had that call and the onsite. They said they'd make a decision fast since they knew I had other offers. I followed up after the weekend and the recruiter told me they weren't moving forward because they wanted someone with "more direct sales experience." He also mentioned the team had no negative feedback. It's weird because "direct sales experience" wasn't in the job description at all, and they never asked me about it in any of my four interviews. I emailed back about this and asked if anything else was a factor, but got no response. Overall, I think the company means well, but their hiring process is messy. If you need a specific skill, you should put it in the job requirements or ask about it.
