Behavioral Technical

The recruiter called me and then I had a zoom interview that was pretty generic. The next zoom interview was really bad, the interviewer was unprofessional and seemed irritated. He answered questions for me and I felt disrespected. I have interviewed people before and never seen an interview done so poorly. I was sent a rejection then a correction saying that was not supposed to happen. It was unorganized and unprofessional.

Behavioral Technical Other

My interview experience at Cruise was a real eye-opener regarding their internal communication issues. I had to chase the recruiters multiple times to get my interviews sorted. In the second interview with the Director, I asked about the team culture and her priorities for the role. Her answers were vague, only mentioning that the team could be 'tough,' which made me question her engagement. She also seemed unsure about the team's strengths and her specific priorities, which was a major red flag. After this, I got a take-home assessment with fake data and a PowerPoint to create. I submitted it, but heard nothing for two weeks. Apparently, the decision-maker was out. Three weeks in, I had a third interview scheduled with local stakeholders for the next day. However, I got a call the day before from someone I didn't know, saying the role was filled over a week ago. When I questioned why the interview was scheduled, he just apologized. Shortly after, I got an email confirming the interview, followed by a cancellation email minutes later. The whole experience showed a lack of coordination between recruiting and the hiring manager, and a general uncertainty about their own company culture.

Behavioral Presentation

The first interview was a screening call that went well. The recruiter didn't know much about the position, so they couldn't answer all my questions. They mentioned that if the hiring manager was interested, I'd get a challenge before the next interview. I got the challenge, which was an 8-page PPT about a given scenario and my design decisions. It was supposed to take 3 hours. It felt like a lot to ask before even talking to the hiring manager, but I guess it was to test strategic thinking and weed people out. I withdrew from the process because I had another presentation to prepare for an interview I was further along with.
