The interview was multi-staged. There were CCAT questions, an English test, questions about the domain area, and proctored free response questions that simulated real work. Then there was an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a job offer. If you get to this stage, you may be in the pool for a while. If another hiring manager decides to interview you, you can get another shot. You have a total of three shots at the interview stage, after which you will have to reapply in a couple of months if you are still interested in that position (if it’s open) or any other.

There was very little human involvement in this process, making the entire thing seem pointless. I passed all the screening tests they put out there easily, but my application was still rejected by a "hiring manager." If you are going to make someone jump through all these hoops, the least the company can do is to put a successful candidate in front of a human being. I would have been less disappointed if I didn't pass any of the tests, but to pass all and still be rejected is painful. I wish them all the best, but this was a massive time waster.

The interview was conducted by a manager from outside of finance. While I understand this might be useful for assessing soft skills and personality, I think I would have performed better with someone who had a finance background for the technical and finance-specific questions. A large portion of the interview involved me going through my CV in detail, as if the interviewer hadn't reviewed it beforehand, because they asked very specific questions about my tenure in various roles. The interviewer had trouble understanding my work as a contractor and resorted to asking general definition questions for finance terms. These terms spanned a wide range of finance functions, making it extremely difficult for someone specializing in a single area to answer. We experienced some technical difficulties at the end, and my connection was lost. I wasn't informed about the subsequent steps in the interview process, and my follow-up email to the interviewer went unanswered.

  • Could you explain what IRR stands for and its meaning?
