First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Crossbeam.
Software Engineer
So I got to the final interview and even got invited to the office for it. But then, 2 days later, I got a rejection. The email said they appreciated my time and effort throughout the process, especially since I made it almost to the end. They decided to go with someone else who was a better fit for the role. They mentioned the decision wasn't easy and encouraged me to apply for other positions. They wished me luck.
- Given an infix expression like ["A", "AND", ["B", "OR", "C"]], write a function to return the equivalent prefix notation, for example: ["AND", "A", ["OR", "B", "C"]].
- An expression consists of terms that are either variables, boolean operators (AND or OR), or nested expressions.
- You don't need to worry about parsing or tokenizing the input expression.
Customer Success Manager
So I interviewed for a CSM role and it was kinda rough 'cause they didn't make expectations clear, especially later on. I thought I was gonna talk about QBRs, but then it turned into a surprise mock role play presentation. They didn't tell me beforehand, so I was totally unprepared. Also, they only gave me one data point, making it super hard to give good insights. If they wanted a case study presentation, they should've given more info. It sucked to get feedback about lacking confidence and specifics when I didn't even know what they wanted. It felt like guessing, not showing what I can do. If you interview there, ask lots of questions first. The team was nice though, and probably great to work with. Just bummed about the poor communication in the final round, having to wing it.
- What's your experience with CRO stakeholders?
- Tell me about your experience with QBRs.
- Can you present a mock role-play scenario?
Senior Site Reliability Engineer
First, I spoke with the recruiter. Then, I completed a programming sample. Finally, there was a series of technical and behavioral interviews. I really do not recommend interviewing here. They don't respect your time or their engineers' time. I told the recruiter my expectations for an offer and asked them not to waste my time or theirs if they couldn't meet them. They said they could. After the interviews, the offer was much lower than I asked for, and the job title was different from the one I applied for. Their reason was 'you don't have enough experience as indicated on your resume.' The whole recruiting team saw my resume, so they could have told me this upfront instead of waiting until after my interviews. Don't bother with these people.
- A coding sample involving a dependency resolution tasklist system was given.
Product Manager
The interview process was great overall. I had a screening call with the Talent Team, then a casual chat with the Hiring Manager. After that, I gave a 45-minute presentation about myself and my work to three current PMs. Finally, I had a virtual on-site with folks from Product, Design, and Engineering. Everyone at Crossbeam was really nice to work with, even though it wasn't the perfect fit for me right now. I'll stay in touch for future roles.
- Tell me about your experience and work in a 45-minute presentation.
- This presentation was a refreshing alternative to the usual 'free work' take-home assignments often given to Product Managers.
