First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Critical Mass.
UX Designer
The whole interview process from application to the final stage took about 2 months. The first interview with the recruiter was really nice, it felt like a casual chat and went smoothly. Then, I had interviews with two hiring managers. There wasn't much chemistry, they were very serious and seemed to rush me a bit during my portfolio showcase where I presented my design process. They asked many questions about why I made certain design choices and included specific features.
- Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
- What's a product you really like right now?
- Can we go through your portfolio and talk about your design work?
User Experience Designer
This was such a positive and encouraging interview process, honestly the best I've experienced. They really took the time to get to know me, checking if I was a good personality fit alongside the technical qualifications, which is something I haven't encountered before. I felt valued throughout, even regardless of the outcome.
- Could you describe the process you followed for this project?
- In what ways did you contribute value to the project?
- What areas are you looking to concentrate on?
User Experience Designer
The interviewers were disengaged, on their phones and computers, not paying attention to my responses, requiring me to repeat myself multiple times. Additionally, there was constant disruption with random people entering and exiting the room during the interview. One interviewer even browsed my LinkedIn profile on their phone, showing it to another interviewer and discussing it, all while I was presenting.
- What are your 5-year career aspirations?
