First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Credit Union Of Colorado.
Learning Specialist
It started with a recruiter phone screen, pretty standard stuff. Then I had a second interview with the hiring manager and someone from the team. The interview was great, they asked some really good questions. It felt like they were leaning towards an internal candidate though.
- Would you prioritize supporting a struggling colleague over developing your own skills?

I applied online at the beginning of June and after more than two months I was contacted by the recruiter for a phone screening. She asked a few questions about my customer service experience and we talked about scheduling the interview. The confirming email said the interview was scheduled for Monday, and it would be a group interview with 2 or 3 contestants and 2 or 3 supervisors. I prepared for the interview, going over possible behavioral questions. I arrived early to the interview location, but nobody seemed to know why I was there and I was never provided a name of a person who would interview me. Shortly after the scheduled interview time, the two supervisors appeared and invited me into a conference room. They started asking me questions, mostly behavioral. I was given to listen to a recording of a phone conversation and had to evaluate it. The interview lasted an hour. At the end I asked them 8 questions, and they told me I would hear from them on Thursday. The interview was on Monday. Tuesday morning I wrote a thank you email and a few hours after that, I got a rejection email.
- What's the most common incorrect assumption about you?

I got a call to set up a phone interview. After that went well, the Branch Manager called to schedule an in-person interview for a few days later. I interviewed with the Branch Manager and two other Member Advocates. That went well. A week later, I had a third interview with three more Member Advocates, which also seemed to go well. Over a week after that, I was told they went with someone else, though they said I was close. While the interviews themselves were positive, the fact that the job was reposted the next day and I didn't get clearer feedback made the whole experience feel negative.
- Can you describe a challenging customer interaction and how you resolved it using the STAR method?
- Have you ever had to exceed expectations for a customer? Please provide an example.
- What's your approach to managing and resolving member complaints?

The interview itself was good and went extremely well. I was told after the interview it went very well and that their only concern was my other job. They asked that I took the weekend to discuss with spouse and other employer and let them know. I called first thing Monday morning to let them know that I would make the hours work and that I would change availability at my other employer as we discussed. I left a message Monday morning..no return call. I called back Thursday of the same week..no call back. I finally called HR the following Monday to see what might be going on. Was told the position was filled.
- Can you share your customer service experience with us?
