It started with a one-way video interview answering some basic questions, which was a new format for me but felt fitting for a PM role given presentation is part of the job. Next, I spoke with the recruiter, who was great. Then came an interview with the VP of Product, featuring standard situational questions and a discussion about my previous projects and experience. The final interview was a panel with representatives from design, engineering, and product, focusing as much on cultural fit as anything else. The last step involved discussing final details and negotiation with the VP of Ops, who seemed genuinely invested in ensuring the role was a good fit and that I'd be happy.

Technical Behavioral

I applied for a Senior Visual Designer position in mid-July 2022. A few weeks later, at the start of August, I received a design test via email before any interview. After submitting the test, it took another couple of weeks, until the end of August 2022, to get a video interview with a hiring manager. During the interview, the hiring manager spoke mostly about the company and its business instead of asking about my experience and its fit for the role. When I presented my portfolio, he focused on the lack of 'social ad' work and the limited number of motion graphic projects, despite me showing more than enough and demonstrating my capabilities. About two weeks after that, I was informed I wouldn't be moving forward. My request for feedback resulted in a generic response: '...decided to move forward with other candidates based on several factors such as assessment results, languages spoken, years of working experience with remote SaaS, time zones, industry experience, proficiency in technologies, etc.'

Behavioral Other

First, they asked me to send in a quick video introducing myself and explaining why I'd be a good fit for the job. Then, I had to take this pretty long Tony Robbins personality quiz they required. After that, I had a 30-minute chat with an HR person. The interview seemed to go okay, but things got weird when I asked about the salary range, and she said she didn't have one, which felt like a total lie. She then asked about my salary expectations, and I told her I'd need to know their range first. They also asked me to do a customer service exercise. I sent it back and then... nothing. Radio silence. I thought it was super unprofessional not to even follow up, especially since they're using HR software that could easily send an automated message. Between the sketchy compensation talk and the lack of respect for my time, I'm actually glad I didn't end up working there.

Behavioral Technical Case

After I applied, I quickly had an interview with a senior HR person. Then, I had a panel interview with the Director of Customer Service and two team leads. This interview was about my experience and I also did a written test with scenario questions about customer service. It went well, I felt comfy. I didn't get the job then, but they kept me in mind. A month later, I got and accepted an offer for a Customer Service Rep job.
