Product Designer
I started with a 30-minute recruiter call, but the calendar invite I got for it was titled 'Panel Interview' and was actually a 45-minute interview with the hiring manager. I asked about this mix-up but never heard back. Usually, HR gives some info if it's a hiring manager interview, but nothing came this time. The whole hiring process was really confusing and poorly communicated. The interview itself felt like a pressure tactic, with lots of one-sided questions aimed at finding flaws instead of a real conversation. It seemed like they didn't care much about the candidate's experience.

Senior Manager
I applied for a role and a recruiter got in touch the next day by email to set up a time to chat on their calendar. I scheduled some time a couple days later and got an email confirming the recruiter would call me then. But, the recruiter never called, so I emailed them to ask if I should reschedule, but they never replied. This was my first impression of the company, and it was awful. Total waste of my time.

Director of Product Design
The interview process began with a recruiter screen, followed by a 1-hour meeting with the Head of Product (Hiring Manager), and then a 30-minute chat with a designer who would be a potential direct report. The final stage was a virtual onsite which included a 90-minute leadership and design excellence presentation, a 1-hour live design critique and strategy exercise, and four 1:1 meetings with different cross-functional team members. While the team members I met seemed nice and engaged, the whole process felt a bit scattered. I had to present on a lot of different things like design excellence, leadership, and management, but I wasn't really sure what they were trying to assess. It felt like the same questions were asked by different interviewers, and there wasn't a clear rubric or consistent focus. Considering the pay wasn't that high, the expectations for knowing the domain well, having deep execution skills, and possessing leadership experience seemed too much. Even though I spent a lot of time preparing, especially for that 90-minute presentation, I just got a standard rejection email. The recruiter did offer to connect me for feedback, but they never replied to my follow-up. It was a bummer because the people seemed genuine and thoughtful, but from a candidate's perspective, the lack of clarity, alignment, and a proper closing made it feel like a lot of unnecessary effort and not a fair process.
- What actions would you take as a manager if you observed low overall design quality within the team? Outline your strategy for managing both smaller and larger teams in such a scenario.
Business Data Analyst
It began with a phone screen, followed by a virtual meeting with the manager. We discussed my experience, A/B Testing, and SQL knowledge. There was also a live coding test. Make sure to brush up on statistics, hypothesis testing, knowledge of the company's business, and advanced SQL like coalesce, join types, and CTEs. The SQL test itself was easy to medium, mainly focusing on aggregations, joins, and CTEs. If you're comfortable with medium to hard Leetcode problems, you'll do great.
- What is the coalesce function in SQL and what are its uses?
- How would you figure out the duration of a study for A/B Testing?
