Account Executive
So there were 4 interviews total. First, a phone screen. Then a main interview. After that, a mock demo was required. Finally, they asked me to block off 3 hours for a rapid-fire interview with different departments for a culture fit. My experience with their hiring was kinda mixed. The company culture and people were really great and friendly, everyone was super welcoming and excited about the team, which felt like a good sign. But the sales hiring process itself could have been better. The mock demo was open-ended with no context, which made it hard to know what they wanted. When I asked, they said 'no clue, just show us what you want us to see.' That lack of direction made it tough to show my skills. Even though I was told it was 'the best she had seen in over a month', this kind of process makes me think the org isn't very mature. Also, scheduling and cancellations were unprofessional. One interview was cancelled with no notice, and another with short notice. This disorganization and disrespect for my time was disappointing and made me question their professionalism. It felt like the sales org is still figuring things out. While the people and culture are good, the hiring process didn't inspire confidence in the sales org's abilities. Basically, great people, immature processes, and young organizationally. It's probably a good company but expect unclear expectations. They seem to want someone who fits the culture and can figure out the rest.

Brand Strategist
The interview process started with a recruiter call, followed by a manager call, then a skill assessment, and finally a panel interview. I really liked the whole thing, it was super clear and the recruiter was always on top of things. It's nice to find a company that respects candidates after dealing with so many who don't. The only downside was the skill assessment, which was pretty time-consuming, around 15 hours, and I didn't get the job afterwards. Still, Creator Deck seems like a great company.
- Could you list 3 successful people and describe the reasons for their success?
- Can you articulate your understanding of the job?
Brand Strategist
My interview with Creator Deck was supposed to be 30 minutes but only lasted 12 minutes. The interviewer seemed disorganized and distracted. I asked why the position had been open for two months because I was worried about employers wasting my time. She seemed taken aback and acted like I couldn't ask questions, which felt like an attempt to assert authority. I then asked about the company's leadership style, and she defensively asked me to rephrase, even though it was a simple question. What struck me most was that she didn't ask about my resume or anything from the Indeed message, but she did ask what I do during my current days. This made me feel like I wasn't progressing. I questioned why a future employer would need to know that information. She also didn't describe what it's like working at Creator Deck. The experience was upsetting because I really wanted the position, but they treated me with a lack of respect and dignity. They even questioned why I was applying given my founder experience. The interviewer clearly needs training in human relations, as her unprofessionalism, lack of dignity, and candor were apparent, especially for an "all-woman start-up of color."
- What do you do with your days?
- Why do you have founder experience?
- Given your founder experience, why are you applying for this role?
Head of Sales
The CEO reached out and connected me with someone on the strategy team. After an initial conversation, I had a longer interview with the CEO. Then, I had two more 1:1 interviews within a few days where we discussed my background and experience. I was then asked to create two pitch decks and went through over 6 interviews in 3 weeks, talking to founders and people across sales and engineering. They kept sending positive signals, even including details about the benefits package in an email saying 'I hope this gives you a few more reasons to make us your first choice!'. Ultimately, the CEO decided not to extend an offer because they felt I lacked industry experience, which they knew from our first call. It felt like a waste of my time and theirs, going through nearly a month of interviews with so many people. The employees were nice, but I wouldn't recommend this process. It was way too long and lacked clear feedback.
- Could you outline your approach to sales and outbound strategies?
- Tell me about a time you had to terminate an employee; what led to it and how did you handle it?
- What is it about this particular industry that appeals to you?
