HR had my resume on file from a previous application, called to see if I was still on the hunt for a job and thought I might be a good fit. Then, they called me in for an interview with the team manager and offered me the job within a couple days from the interview.

The phone call was super friendly and casual, but they were kinda cagey about the actual company, its management, salary, and how one might advance. It felt like too much of a game and not enough real info to know what to expect about the work environment, actual salary ranges, or hours. It seemed like a very top-down place, typical for the office furniture industry, set up as a profit center for the few owners and top execs, whose salaries are way out of whack with most of the staff. It was insulting and offensive to think about a career there. Just a thin layer of friendliness, like salespeople, hiding questionable business practices and a place where senior folks treat employees like disposable second-class citizens.

I got into this interview because a staffing agency referred me and set it up. The interview itself felt really professional and to the point. They were super clear about what the job was and what it involved, and they made sure I got answers to all my questions. I did end up talking to two different people one after the other, which was a bit stressful but did give me another viewpoint.

I applied online and about a week later, I was invited for an in-office interview. It was a quick interview, lasting about 20-30 minutes. They said they'd contact me if I was successful for a second round interview.
