I applied for the video intern position. After that, I had a phone interview with a senior recruiter. About 48 hours after that, I got a message saying they were going with another candidate and couldn't move me forward at this time, even though they were impressed. I also applied for other internships there, but they didn't say which one I was rejected for.

Senior management will roleplay as the Irish Liquor Lobby. You'll have about 3 days to prep a product demo. You need to convince them to make a purchase, or you won't advance. The demo requires asking good open-ended questions, being persistent, and showing enthusiasm and confidence.

I applied online through The Economist's website, and also leveraged a networking contact. It took about a month to hear back. I got an email with job info that was slightly different from the original posting, and we set up an interview. The interview covered job details, the product I'd be using, my experiences with similar products, and my willingness to learn new ones. We also talked a lot about the organization's culture, including social events. They mentioned the original position I applied for was filled by an internal candidate and I was interviewing for a similar entry-level role, which wasn't clear from the initial email. About a week later, I had a follow-up phone call with more questions. The purpose of this call was an offer. I asked for more time to consider because I was expecting to hear from another company and it was a holiday weekend. They wanted a decision by the end of the next day. I waited but didn't hear back from the other company, so I turned down the offer. They emailed asking why, and I explained it wasn't a good fit and that the position I interviewed for was different from the one I applied to.

The hiring and interview process at CQ Roll Call was very professional and thorough. The interview was conducted on site with both technical and management personnel present. The questions asked were a good mix of technical and corporate culture inquiries to determine both technical proficiency and whether the prospective employee would be a good fit in the exsitng corporate culture.
