cPanel Interview Questions
& Process

So, first I had this task where I had to build a small application that could be run from the command line. After that, I was invited for an interview. This was a panel interview, with maybe 2 or 3 people. Then I moved on to the next round, which was like a 4-hour ordeal with 6-7 people watching me code and asking stuff. It wasn't super hard, but having all those eyes on me while I was coding in Google Slides was pretty intense. I couldn't really test or show anything effectively. I mean, most programmers can't just code a whole project in notepad and have it work perfectly. I also had to look into some Python scripting and fix a problem with that.

The first interview was a phone call where I was asked some Linux questions, like what a kernel panic is and what Linux commands I knew. The second interview was on-site, where I had to sit at a laptop, connect to a server, and work through three issues. They were pretty basic issues, but the whole thing was on a big screen with two or more people watching my every move and every resource I used. It made me really nervous. I can usually handle issues fine, but being on a big screen like that for someone on the autistic spectrum was just a nightmare. I decided to just call it a day.

I submitted my application on Saturday morning via their website and got an automated confirmation that a human would review it soon. Surprisingly, I got a call for a phone interview the same day. The interview happened 5 days later with the person currently in the role, who was moving to a different position. They started by reading a script about the company, which I'd already seen multiple times. After that, the questions were pretty spontaneous and based on our conversation flow, which I liked. It was my first interview in years, and I was nervous. I knew about halfway through that I wasn't who they were looking for. About 30 minutes after, I got an automated email stating my application was no longer being considered. Overall, it was a decent experience.

So the interview process was pretty creative and thorough. It started with some short answer and essay questions on the application itself. They looked at my application pretty fast and I heard back the very next day to set up an interview. After scheduling, they sent over some specific questions so I could prepare. I also had to bring a portfolio of my work. The first interview was with a group of 5 people, including the Chief Business Officer. They each asked a couple questions and then I got to ask them questions. At the end of that interview, I was given a take-home assignment due in 48 hours, which was to write an email to convert trial customers. Before I did that, I had a second interview. This interview involved a game of my choice, as long as it was HR appropriate. I brought a game and basically had to lead the group in playing it, deciding when to wrap up, etc. Then I asked more questions of the team. I got an email about a week later saying I didn't get the job.
