Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cox Communications.
Account Executive
The interview process wasn't the most professional. It's a small world, and when they said they'd let me know next week (which turned into two weeks), it was because they were waiting for the other candidate's background check to clear. The manager also asked for my number after we'd already spoken four times. It was a mess, and I dodged a bullet.
- Can you tell me what makes you a strong candidate for this role?
Account Executive
I had a standard phone interview, then talked to the hiring manager. After that, I interviewed with the sales director. There was a long wait between each level. Finally, I got an offer letter. The whole process took about 2 months.
- Can you share an instance where you successfully navigated a challenging sales scenario with a client, ultimately resulting in a sale?
Account Executive
The first interview was a phone call with the Recruiter. If they liked my experience, I then met with HR. I had an hour-long meeting with two HR people to talk about the company culture and if I liked Unions, which they apparently hate. Next, I interviewed with the Sales Manager, who would be my direct report, for about an hour to discuss compensation and sales tactics. Some candidates also meet with the Director of Sales, but not always.
- Tell me about a significant error you made in your previous role.
- What are your views on unions?
- How do you approach sales?
