Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Covington & Burling.
Summer Associate
It was a short interview, only 20 minutes and we actually finished a little early. The interviewers seemed nice, but I don't think we really clicked. They didn't ask me a ton of questions, but they did seem interested in getting to know me.
- Can you tell me why you chose to go to law school?
- What areas of legal practice are you interested in exploring?
Summer Associate
There was a 20-minute screening chat about my law school experience and why I'm interested in the firm. They asked about my first and second years, my curriculum choices, and any practice areas I might be interested in down the line and why. It was just one interviewer, and she was super nice! They requested a writing sample beforehand.
- Could you share about your first year of law school?
Associate
It was pretty respectful, but took a while. They asked about my past work history and how I could bring in new clients to the firm. They also wanted to know if I was okay with working long hours.
- Can you share your experience working in big law?
- Tell me about your previous roles and experiences.
- What kind of connections or clients can you bring to our firm?
