First, an HR screening to go over your CV and experience and talk about why you're interested in working here. Then, an interview with the developers where you'll review a past project, discuss its implementation, and what could have been improved. They'll also ask about your approach to code reviews.

Behavioral Technical Coding

I went through 4 interview rounds with different people each time. The whole process was pretty slow, with a week gap between each interview. They kept asking the same questions in every round, which made it seem like they weren't sharing information between interviewers. The third round was a technical one where they gave me a code sample and expected me to spend 4 hours looking at it. If you know coding standards and best practices, you can find a lot of ways to improve it. Honestly, almost every line needed work. Then there was a 1.5 hour session to discuss what I found and see if I could fix bugs. So, it was actually a 5.5 hour technical test, which felt way too long! They had me change the code using different Git branches to see if I could fix the bugs they put in. My advice: check out the branches before the live interview to see what they changed, as multiple files can be modified. After a month in the process, they finally offered me a contract. I asked if they could increase the salary a bit and pointed out a typo in the contract. They admitted they sent the wrong version and would send an updated one, and they'd check internally about the salary. About 4 hours later, they said they couldn't meet my salary request and wouldn't send a new contract. It felt super unprofessional to go through such a tough process, get an offer, and then have it pulled in less than a day. Definitely avoid this company.

Behavioral Technical Coding Presentation

First, there was a phone chat about your general experience, salary needs, and what drives you. Then, you did some online tests for personality and skills. After that, you were given a technical project to complete over a week or two, which involved solving a specific problem. This was followed by an on-site code review of your project with two senior engineers, which was a friendly technical chat. Next, you had an on-site interview with five managers; their main goal seemed to be figuring out the best team for you. I think you're pretty much guaranteed an offer if you make it to this meeting. Finally, they extended the offer.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Tell me about the latest technology you've learned independently and explain it.
  • Your personality test indicated you have a certain negative trait; do you agree, and if so, how would you mitigate its effect on your work?

Coveo Solutions Software Engineer Interview Questions

Quoted word for word from Coveo Solutions interview reports.

Imagine a landscape represented by an array of positive integers indicating tower heights, like [3, 2, 1]. If it rains, water fills the valleys, but spills off the ends. What array of integers would represent the amount of water trapped at each position? For instance, [3, 2, 1] results in [0, 0, 0], while [3, 1, 3] yields [0, 2, 0], and [3, 1, 2] gives [0, 1, 0].
