So I'm a 24 y/o Bachelor grad from Europe, and Coveo interviewed me while I was waiting for my work permit in Canada. I first met with Salim Cherkaoui, the Sales Talent Acquisition Specialist. We chatted about the two roles I was eyeing, my chances, and what's next. Salim was super open and honest, which made me feel valued and excited. We decided to go for the SDR role for the DACH market, based in Quebec, Canada, since I'm fluent in German. A week later, I got a take-home assignment to show my SDR skills. It involved writing a 6-page research report on a 'potential customer' (though I was told the lead was actually an existing Coveo customer). After sending that in, another week passed, and they told me my report was amazing. But, they had already offered the job to someone else who was further along in the process and could start immediately, unlike me with my work permit situation. The whole thing took about three weeks and was pretty smooth, thanks to Salim's great support, communication, and integrity. He kept me in the loop and was really quick to reply to emails and even random calls. Salim was my only contact at Coveo, and I felt well taken care of. I'm hoping to continue discussions with them in the future.

The interview process started with a screening call with HR, which was supposed to be on camera but ended up being audio-only due to technical issues. This interview was straightforward, focusing on getting to know me and my motivations, as well as explaining the recruitment process. After passing this initial stage, I was given a research assignment test. The next step, if successful with the test, was a virtual face-to-face interview with the hiring manager and another team member. However, the other team member didn't show up, so it was just me and the hiring manager. Unfortunately, during this interview, the hiring manager seemed to have very high expectations, not leaving much room for error, and the process didn't move forward from there. They emphasized looking for a 'great fit, not just a good fit.' The entire process spanned several weeks, concluding with a rejection email. I requested feedback and received some useful input from HR regarding their selection and rejection criteria. The feedback highlighted that even if some aspects of the interview went well, any missed parts due to interview stress or other factors could lead to disqualification, as it did in my case, marking my second rejection from this company. It's also worth noting that there might be changes during the test interview, like the simulated 'discovery call' in my experience, which could catch candidates off guard and lead to disqualification. While a mix of interviews and tests is beneficial, strong interview performance doesn't always translate to success in the actual role. As a side note, researching the company during the test preparation, I noticed a lack of Diversity & Inclusion, with a predominant demographic visible, which might raise questions about unconscious bias and the consistent application of standards across all candidates, especially for a global company with over 1000 employees. Overall, it's a lengthy process involving interviews and tests, but it can also be quite subjective despite best efforts.

Behavioral Presentation

Went through a 3-stage interview process: first with talent acquisition, then with the hiring managers (based in Canada), and finally with the Global VP of Sales Development. I was offered the role after a 4-day wait for feedback, but then the offer was retracted with no clear reason. Thankfully, I hadn't canceled other interviews I had scheduled.
