First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Covenant Health (Texas).
NICU RN
I heard back quickly to schedule the interview. The 'recruiter' was actually an automated system named Anne Therese Sauquillo. The interview itself was virtual and didn't feel very professional. They didn't even turn their cameras on when I logged in, so I was looking at a blank screen while mine was on. Their tone suggested they didn't want to be there and it wasn't welcoming at all. The only positive part was when a charge nurse joined the interview last minute; she was enthusiastic and friendly.
- What are your thoughts on DEI and how do you apply it in nursing?
- What are your short-term and long-term goals?
- Tell me about a difficult patient you encountered and how you handled it.
Intern
When I applied in 2023, the process was really simple and straightforward. I think there was just one interview for this role, but it might be different now because the program manager could have changed.
- Can you tell me about your background and what interests you?
Health Unit Coordinator
It's online first and then you might get called for a second interview in person, and then it takes about one to two weeks to hear back if they're gonna offer you the job. You have to do paperwork, a background check, and a health screening. Training can start after at least 3 weeks.
- Describe a situation where you made an error and how you handled it.
Registered Nurse Medical Surgical
The interview can be a panel with 3-5 people including floor nurses, an educator, and the nurse manager. Sometimes it's just the nurse manager. They'll ask about your experiences, what you would do in situations, and your opinions on topics. I interviewed for different floors, and everyone was professional and passionate about their areas.
- Describe a situation where you had to manage your time effectively.
- Can you share an instance of a disagreement you had with a coworker?
- In your opinion, what constitutes excellent patient care?
