First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coterra Energy.
Intern
the interview process was easy, campus recruitment, interview the next day and that is all the questions are really standard and they just go through your resume with you. They let you know if you got it or not through the phone 2 weeks or so after
- Why are you interested in working at Coterra?
Accountant
The interviewer called me to arrange the interview. When I got there, I checked in with the receptionist who told the interviewer I had arrived. The main interviewer greeted me and then introduced me to her manager. The manager and I talked for a while. He explained the company's structure and culture, and how they do things differently than a bigger company. We also talked about the benefits. After that, I met with the main interviewer. She asked a lot of questions about my past jobs and what I did. She explained what the job was about, the monthly schedule, when it gets busy, overtime expectations, and the work atmosphere. She also mentioned how many people she was interviewing and that some current employees were also interested. The whole interview with the manager and the interviewer took about two and a half hours. The interviewer called me within a week to say I wasn't chosen and that they picked someone from inside the company.
- Given that this role involves a busy period requiring overtime to meet deadlines and a monthly downtime where you'll need to find tasks, do you believe you're a good fit for the position's work schedule?
Facilities Engineer
Got an initial email for a phone interview. The phone interview went great, and the recruiter knew a lot about facility engineering, even though he wasn't an engineer himself. He said he'd put me forward for an in-person interview with the hiring manager. I heard back a week later, but he was still waiting for the hiring manager to respond and told me to check back in a week if I hadn't heard anything. I tried calling and emailing him several times but got no response at all. Not very impressed with how they handle candidates after interviews.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
Pumper II
They asked about my prior experience operating leases and wells. They also told me the responsibilities and areas of work. The work schedule and specifics of the job were also included. It was several days later and they offered me a position with the company and I started soon thereafter. The interview was quick and painless and a pleasure to do.
- Tell me about your experience operating wells and leases, and who you worked for previously.
