First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy.
Paralegal
I saw an ad on Craigslist for an experienced paralegal and applied. I got a call back and scheduled an interview pretty quickly. Turns out, out of 60 people, I was one of the top 20 they wanted to interview even though I don't have much experience. First, I talked to HR, who was really nice. Then, I had a panel interview with two senior paralegals. They were professional and asked good questions. My only issue was that they both said they'd get back to me in 10 days, win or lose, and they didn't. It was a bit unprofessional, but otherwise, I think I would have liked the job.
- Could you describe your experience?
- How has your experience been working as part of a team?
Case Assistant
I had a straightforward call with the interviewer, who was very nice. I asked about the hiring process/next steps, and she asked for more info and said they would be in touch soon. I gave her the info, and again was promised an update. But, a few weeks passed, and when I inquired about updates, I got no response. After reading past posts about former employees' experiences at the firm, it seems like I dodged a bullet. I don't mind not getting an offer, but it's super unprofessional to keep promising a follow-up and then ghosting.
- What makes you a better candidate than others?
Senior Attorney
Had several interviews. The first one was with the lead associate on the team where I'd be working. Then there was a series of interviews around the office, and finally, a meeting with Mr. Cotchett. Everyone was really nice. The interviews touched on legal substance.
- Would you be open to traveling for depositions if it involved flying?
Associate
I applied and got a call for an interview in under a week. Then I had an interview with one of the named partners in his office. He was very upfront about their expectations and what they are looking for.
- Tell me about your organizational habits.
