First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at COSI (Columbus).
Teacher
I applied online, then I went in for an interview with two people. I had to prepare a presentation of an experiment that they let me choose in advance, and after that they asked me a series of questions.
- What would you teach, and to whom, if you could teach anything to anyone in the world?
Experience Programs Teacher
The interview was designed to be fun. We got some easy lesson plans beforehand and picked one to 'teach' the interviewers. They also gave us props and work areas, and the interviewers acted like people and asked questions you might encounter at COSI.
- How would you approach a child from a Creationist background who challenges the evolutionary "theory"?
Experience Programs Teacher
I applied online and after a few days, I got a call with more details about the job and an invite to a group interview. This group interview had two parts: first, I had to give a science lesson to the other candidates and the managers. Then, we were split into smaller groups for a Q&A session with the managers. It was structured and professional, but still fun!
- Can you share an instance where you had a conflict with a coworker and describe how you resolved it?
Teacher
The interview was pretty straightforward. I met with two supervisors who asked me a bunch of questions. They also gave me a list of science topics and I had to teach one of them on the spot. The whole hiring process was very simple and the interviews were pretty fun!
- Could you introduce yourself?
