It was pretty thorough but felt right. I spoke with 5 different people, and some of them were senior leaders. They were really respectful and we had some good talks. I'm waiting to hear back, thinking this company could be a good fit.

It was a written technical discussion first. Then hr+managerial round. Cleared all rounds but the HR round had very low pay. When scheduling the interview, I stated my expectations and asked if they could meet them before scheduling. They agreed and scheduled the interview, but during the discussion, they tried to negotiate for a much lower salary. Please don't waste our time if you don't intend to pay according to expectations. At least offer a meaningful negotiation, not just a 5000/- increase.

I met with the CRO and Director of Financial Planning. They needed a marketing exec to improve their long term plan. I took over the interviewer's computer and desk to show the company's marketing issues using web analytics. I gave examples of companies with bad marketing programs that are now successful, and how we achieved that. I then presented a long-term plan showing how I'd make a positive impact with the right tools and software. They were surprised by the specific plan and brought me back 5 days later to meet the CEO.

They seemed to have a problem with my race and weren't looking for someone like me, even though they interviewed other Black candidates. They asked a lot about my past jobs to see if I was aggressive enough. The company's direction is unclear because they keep changing things and don't seem to know how to run it.
