First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Corporate Office Properties Trust.
Senior Accountant
The interview process began with a phone interview and was planned to include two in-person interviews. After the phone interview, there was about a two-week waiting period before they decided to hire someone from their internal recruitment, instead of external. It seems like COPT has really good values and a strong mission. I'd be open to applying for future jobs in my field and would reach out to their recruiters directly.
- Could you share some details about your background and previous experiences?
Financial Analyst
The recruiter was super pushy and sold this job to me. I told her my salary requirements and then she came back with this company who wants to pay 49 in base, 8% bonus, and 20% in restricted stock, and they want 5 years of experience. The guy on the phone didn't even have the recruiter's name right and asked if I would be willing to settle for a lower salary than what was on the notes. I took myself out of the running when they told me the salary was non-negotiable. They aren't interested in hiring the best people, they want to cut costs and hire entry level. Restricted stock is typically reserved for executive compensation or a bonus benefit, not a way to get out of paying an analyst 53k when their market value is 65.
- What is your reason for leaving your current company, xxx?
Property Manager
The interview process is quite long. You'll have 3 interviews: first, you'll meet with the hiring manager. Second, you'll meet with their boss. Third, you'll meet with HR. If you get to the HR interview, you're probably gonna get the job.
- Can you tell me about your greatest strengths?
- What do you consider to be your weaknesses?
- Tell me about your experience in customer service.
Design Manager
The interview process at COPT for this position included first a phone interview with an in person interview to follow. The in-person interview included meeting with 6 different COPT Employees. Ultimately, I didn't get an offer, but I think COPT has a great set of company values and I would apply again in the future because of that.
- What is your preferred work style?
