Got contacted via LinkedIn and went through the first round of interviews while I was freelancing. They asked me to do a sketch sprint, but when I asked for the number of hours so it wouldn't conflict with my freelancing work, they couldn't give me a clear answer. I told them I was worried about the sprint conflicting with my job, and then I didn't hear back about the second round. If you're really desperate for a job, this might be okay for you. But I'm not about doing free work, that's a boundary for me.

I initially connected with a recruiter for this role. The whole interview process was pretty chaotic. Although I was put on the visitor list for the correct day, Core Home had the wrong date down, so I almost couldn't get into the building. Once I got upstairs, the reception was empty, and I ended up waiting 15 minutes past the start time. During that wait, various people asked if I was being assisted, and I had to tell at least three individuals I was there for an interview before the interviewers finally showed up. At one point, the actual receptionist came by and apologized while she was managing the owner's kids, but she didn't come back. The interview itself was pretty standard, but it's been a month with no word, so I'm guessing they've ghosted me.

The interview process included two rounds of online interviews, one with the CEO and another with the team I would be working with. After that, there was an in-person interview where I met the CEO and the team. During these interviews, they asked about my background and explained the role. They also asked if I could develop systems that hadn't been created before.

The interview process with Core Home spanned over two months. It started with a Zoom call with the Head of Design, which went longer than the scheduled 30 minutes. They were nice and answered my questions well. I showed them a work sample I made, and they liked it but wanted a revision. I tweaked it and sent a new PDF, which got me an in-person interview. On the day of that interview, I got there early, but the doorman didn't know I was coming and wouldn't let me up. Luckily, someone from Core Home showed up and brought me in. Inside, I met a product manager, and we chatted about my physical portfolio. They seemed to lose their train of thought sometimes. I got a tour of their showrooms, which was cool but a bit overwhelming with all the stuff. After that, I had another chat with the Head of Design about salary. They then asked if I had more packaging projects, like a hangtag design. I spent another week working on that and sent it via WeTransfer, twice. Neither the Head of Design nor the project manager downloaded it before it expired. So, I put it on my portfolio website and sent the link a third time. After all that, including three work samples, I got a short rejection email. I asked for feedback but never heard back. I'm not sure they even saw my last project. Nice people, but confusing signals and took up a lot of my time.
