Human Resources Generalist
I felt good about the company until my third interview with the CFO. He explained to me the focus going forward was "preservation" rather than on making improvements. I knew the former HR Manager had recently left and there had been a layoff, where HR had lost a position, six months prior to my interview and I felt like the company was still trying to find its footing. After the interview it was 4 weeks before I heard back on the status of my application. When I spoke with department managers I learned that they had not been involved in conversations about hiring for positions in their departments before, especially when screening preferences were considered. They are interested in being more involved in screening candidates.
- Did you learn anything about the company from your research that wasn't mentioned before the interview?
- Given this position requires significant Employee Relations experience, could you share your background in ER?
Mechanical Engineer
So I had this initial 1 hour group interview with 5 people, and then a 2 hour on-site interview. The first interview was about my experience and what I thought my strengths and weaknesses were. The on-site interview was supposed to be with 2 people, but it turns out there were supposed to be more people interviewing me, but they weren't in the office. When I got there, the interviewers didn't even seem to know I was coming until like an hour before I got there. They gave me a tour of the facility and asked if I had any questions. They were nice and told me they would get back to me in 2 weeks, but I never heard back.
- What type of mill do you operate?
Sales
First I sent my CV, then there was a telephone interview. After that, they emailed me with details about the next step, which involved preparing some PPT material. The final stage was a face-to-face interview at their office where I had to do a mock sales presentation. I met with my direct superior and the general manager.
- Tell me about your experience.
- Why are you looking to switch roles?
- What are your career expectations?
Technical Support Specialist
I spoke with someone from HR and someone from customer service, kinda like a mini panel interview, it was so chill i almost forgot I was interviewing. It was really fast and I started out as a temp, but after about a month, I was hired full-time in a different department and had interviews for that too, which were also like panel interviews.
- How good are you at handling a lot of work at once and juggling tasks?
- Tell me about your ability to multitask and prioritize.
- How do you manage a busy workload and prioritize your tasks?
